Since 2001, OnTarget Consulting, Inc. has been helping organizations and individuals act strategically, improve performance and achieve their business goals. Our clients come from the private, public and nonprofit sectors.

OnTarget Consulting’s clients aren’t interested in merely solving problems or improving their current condition around the margins; their goal is to innovate and raise the bar.

We build long-term relationships with our clients, often getting called in to work on a wide range of challenges. Our most common assignments involve:

  • Strategy development & execution

  • Leadership and teambuilding

  • Talent retention and deployment

  • Board development and governance

  • Grief in the workplace

  • Change management

  • Conflict resolution

  • Innovation

Our work is customized and designed to address each client’s unique challenges and opportunities. We don’t offer “one size fits all” approaches, formulas or “patented” techniques with catchy acronyms. Instead, we collaborate with our clients to analyze the current situation. We identify opportunities to move the organization and its leaders to the next level – entry into a new market, a significant improvement in talent deployment or retention, a more effective and more motivated workforce or management team. We work against specific objectives with well-defined, measurable outcomes and accomplish our work within an agreed-upon timeframe.

We often find that our clients already have the talent and resources within the organization needed to achieve their goals. We advise our clients on how to redeploy that talent and use those resources more effectively.

We don’t sell packaged, off-the-shelf solutions. Instead, we listen to our clients and work with them to determine what’s happening and develop unique approaches tailored to their organization. We help our clients figure out what’s keeping them up at night and create innovative approaches to resolve those challenges.

Ultimately, we measure our success by the achievements of our clients and their ability to do more of what matters and less of what doesn’t.

Margo really listens to her clients, and she gets everyone involved. She is thorough in her work and kept us focused as we moved through the process of creating a new strategic plan for our organization. Margo does not come with a predetermined formula or cookie-cutter approach. I think that’s what impressed the staff and board – she really took the time to get to know us and then worked with us to create a product everyone could own.
— Shari Roeseler, Executive Director Society for the Blind
I appreciated your observations and wise counsel as we developed our strategic plan. It is truly a vital document that our Board has taken ownership for due in large part to the way in which you helped us focus on key issues and strategies. I look forward to working you with on other projects in the future.
— Nancy Findeisen, Executive Director, Community Services Planning Council
Your impressive preparation and approach helped the Guild to overcome their resistance to change and make some critical decisions about their future. The outcome was a well-defined plan for building volunteer enthusiasm, increasing membership and making a practical business decision to downsize the gift shop. Thank you for assisting this group to move beyond the emotions and safe practices of the past and come together to create an exciting plan for the future.
— Ron Davis, Executive Director, Sacramento Children’s Home
